Roderick Benns
Roderick Benns is the co-founder of Fireside Publishing House (along with his wife, Joli Scheidler-Benns) and is the author of the first two books in the award-winning Leaders & Legacies series on Canada's Prime Ministers as teens.

Long ago, Roderick memorized all the Prime Ministers in order and decided there was a future in this dubious accomplishment.
Raised in the scenic, small town of Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, he went on to a varied writing career spanning 21 years, with newspapers, magazines, Internet news sites and radio. Roderick is an award-winning journalist, having captured a 1st place national newspaper award in the 1990s for journalistic initiative through the Canadian Community of Newspapers Association.
Roderick is also Senior Writer with the Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat of the Ontario Ministry of Education. Personal interests include Canadian history (wow, what a stretch!), politics, Norse mythology, trivia games and hockey.
He has two outstanding children, Eric, 13, a promising creative writer of stories and songs, and Alexis, 5, a precocious entertainer and nature lover. They live in the Greater Toronto Area with their middle-aged, silver toy poodle named Sirius. The family also likes to spend time in the country with their young horse, Gaelin.
